Insight: Nutritious: FULL LIST: Tinubu Approves Posting of 65 Ambassadors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors to Nigerian diplomatic missions across the world, comprising 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors.

The appointments, announced in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, follow the confirmation of the ambassadors-designate by the Nigerian Senate in December.

Among the prominent non-career appointees are Reno Omokri, posted to Mexico; Femi Fani-Kayode, assigned to Germany; and Jimoh Ibrahim, who will serve as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

Other notable appointments include former Minister of Health Isaac Folorunso Adewole to Canada, former Minister of Interior Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to China, and former Deputy Governor of Lagos State Olufemi Pedro to Australia.

In addition, former presidential aide Ita Enang will serve as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to South Africa, while Lateef Kayode Are has been posted to the United States.

The list also includes political and public figures such as Grace Bent (Togo), Nora Ladi Daduut (South Korea), and IfEanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi (Greece).

For career diplomats, postings span key missions across Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Some of the assignments include Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, Egypt, India, Belgium, Switzerland, Morocco, Iran, and Thailand.

According to the presidency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Nigeria) has already secured agrément from the United Kingdom for Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, who will serve as Nigeria’s High Commissioner. France has also granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.

The ministry has transmitted the nominations of the remaining envoys to host countries and requested diplomatic clearance in line with international practice.

President Tinubu also directed the foreign affairs ministry to immediately begin induction programmes for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners ahead of their deployment.

The postings are expected to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic presence and advance the country’s foreign policy priorities across strategic global missions.
